Adopt Resolution No. 24-2026, approving the application for the Climate Bond Grant Funds for the Urban Greening Grant Program.

body

SUMMARY:

The Public Works Department intends to submit a grant application for the California Natural Resources Agency’s Urban Greening Grant Program. The grant is funded through the State of California’s Proposition 4-Climate Bond. Section 92530 of the Climate Bond directs funding to the California Natural Resources Agency for competitive urban greening grants supporting projects that mitigate the urban heat island effect, rising temperatures, and extreme heat impacts. The Urban Greening grant application would include the urban greening elements and allowable grant costs of the Red Bluff River Park Rehabilitation Phase II project. The Phase II project is working to complete the overall design of the splash pad and park revitalization project at the Red Bluff River Park.

PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION:

None. This is the initial full grant application for the Urban Greening Grant Program for the City of Red Bluff.

DISCUSSION:

The California Natural Resources Agency requires the provided resolution certifying the approval of the application by the applicant’s governing board before submission of the application for Urban Greening Grant Program. The action approves the filing of an application for the Red Bluff River Park Rehabilitation Phase II project and appoints the City Manager, or designee, as agent to conduct all negotiations, execute and submit all documents, including, but not limited to applications, agreements, payment requests, and so on, which may be necessary for the completion of the aforementioned project.

CITY FISCAL IMPACT:

No anticipated impact on the General Fund Budget. The grant does not require matching funds.
