Review report on actions taken by the City Manager to settle liability claims with merit up to $50,000 against the City of Red Bluff.

SUMMARY:
As required by the City of Red Bluff’s City Code: Chapter II, Article X, Section 2.96 (C): Delegation of authority over minor claims. Claims with merit of up to $50,000 may be settled and approved for payment by the City Manager after consultation with the City Attorney. Quarterly reports of actions taken on such claims will be submitted to the City Council.
PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION:
On February 20, 2024, City Council adopted Ordinance 1079, updating the City Manager’s settlement authority in the City Code to increase from a $10,000 limit to $50,000 for minor claims.

CITY FISCAL IMPACT:
The City Council adopted Ordinance 1079, which authorized the City Manager to settle minor claims up to $50,000; previously, the City Manager could settle claims of less than $10,000.
