SUMMARY:
The Red Bluff Police Department intends to apply for the BJA FY 2026 Body Worn Camera Policy and Implementation Program (BWCPIP). The opportunity supports publicly funded law enforcement agencies for the purchase or lease of body-worn cameras (BWC) and the development of comprehensive BWC programs.

The funding opportunity funds two categories: Category 1: Site Based Awards to Publicly Funded Law Enforcement Agencies seeking to establish or expand their body-worn camera programs, or Category 2: Site Based Awards to Publicly Funded Correctional Agencies seeking to implement or expand their body-worn camera program deployment across correctional institutions.

The funding opportunity goals are to improve the operational effectiveness and safety of law enforcement and correctional personnel and strengthen the evidentiary value of the body-worn camera footage in criminal investigations and prosecutions. The Red Bluff Police Department intends to apply for funds to purchase replacement body-worn cameras for aging equipment. The full application is due October 2, 2026
