A Resolution of the Red Bluff City Council Amending the Hourly Pay Schedule for All Extra Help, Part-Time & Seasonal Employees
end
RECOMMENDED COUNCIL ACTION:
recommendation
That the City Council adopt Resolution 22-2026 amending the hourly pay schedule for all Extra Help, Part-Time & Seasonal employees not covered by a bargaining unit.
body
SUMMARY:
The Hourly Pay Schedule has been updated to reflect increases to the full-time equivalent positions of the Reserve Dispatcher and Reserve Fire Inspector.
PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION:
On December 2, 2025, the City Council adopted Resolution 34-2025 updating the last Hourly Pay Schedule.
DISCUSSION:
CalPERS requires that retired annuitants that work for the City of Red Bluff make an equivalent hourly wage compared to the full-time regular position that most resembles the work they do for the agency. Wage increases to the full-time regular position of Police Communications Dispatcher and Fire Engineer that went into effect on July 4, 2026, have exceeded the current hourly pay range for the Reserve Dispatcher and Reserve Fire Inspector positions that are currently being filled by retired annuitants.
Therefore, the City is proposing the attached new Hourly Pay Schedule that will increase the pay range to these two Reserve positions as follows:
Reserve Fire Inspector: Current pay range is $25.00 - $28.00 an hour. New proposed range will be $26.00 - $32.00 an hour.
Reserve Dispatcher: Current pay range is $26.75 - $33.75 an hour. New proposed range will be $27.75 - $34.75 an hour.
CITY FISCAL IMPACT:
These pay increases are minor in cost and covered within the approved 2026/27 Budget.
